Mermaid Radio

Once upon a time,
I partied with the lights out,
soaking in the starlight,
feeling my heart beat.

Once upon a time,
I danced under the water,
moving like a mermaid
underneath the waves.

And I feel the tide in my hair.
And I can touch the bottom of the ocean,
let out the commotion.

And I dressed myself in moondust.
And I draped night around my shoulder,
heavy as a boulder.

Once upon a time,
I sung beneath the treetops,
breathing in the leaves’ scent,
tethered to the ground.

Once upon a time,
I kissed atop a mushroom,
sharing warmth between lips
and love between hearts.

Once upon a time,
I thought I was a phantom,
sleeping in the shadows,
haunted nightmares past.

And I was dreaming of explosions.
And I let it go with the wind,
